Spring Arrives Early: Temperatures Expected to Reach 20 Degrees
As the sun shines brightly and temperatures rise, an early spring is making its presence felt across Germany. Meteorologists predict a steady increase in warmth, with temperatures reaching up to 20 degrees Celsius by Friday.
Starting Tuesday, the weather will show signs of warmth, with forecasts suggesting temperatures might hit 14 degrees. By Wednesday, the mercury could rise further, reaching up to 16 degrees, while Thursday may see highs of 19 degrees in the southwestern and western regions of the country.
According to climatologist Dr. Karsten Brandt, spring is indeed here, with a rapid ascent in temperatures. However, this warm spell comes with a warning: the dry air is elevating the risk of forest fires, particularly in eastern parts of Germany, where alert levels are already at 3-4.
Rain is not expected until next Monday, with forecasts indicating minimal precipitation across northern and parts of eastern Germany for the next 20 days. Meteorologist Dominik Jung notes that the upcoming week promises plenty of sunshine, with daily temperatures gradually increasing, making it an ideal week for outdoor activities.
Despite the warm weather, caution is advised. While the sun will be shining brightly, the air will still feel cool in shaded areas. Weather expert Britta Siebert-Sperl emphasizes the importance of dressing in layers during this transitional month, as temperatures can vary significantly.
Tuesday will start with some fog in the morning, but the sun will quickly break through, leading to pleasant conditions throughout the day. Highs will range from 9 to 14 degrees, with coastal and mountainous areas seeing temperatures around 7 degrees. As the week progresses, the mild weather is expected to continue, particularly in the southern and western regions.
Looking ahead, the German Weather Service anticipates that the mild conditions will persist into the weekend, with winds shifting to southerly directions, further boosting daytime temperatures. While a brief return of clouds and rain may occur next week, forecasts suggest that warm and sunny weather could resume soon after.
This March is shaping up to be particularly dry and sunny, despite potential rain in the upcoming week. As the weather transitions, it remains crucial for individuals to prepare for varying temperatures and stay informed about local weather conditions.
