During his recent visit to Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited one of the terminals of the Ukrainian rail and road network, N'UNIT. Mr. Blinken familiarized himself with the work of N'UNIT, focusing on one of its multimodal terminals. Currently, N'UNIT's intermodal freight transportation service covers 90% of Ukraine's territory.
N'UNIT network was the first in Ukraine to develop a systematic multimodal transportation infrastructure based on the "dry port" principle several years before the full-scale invasion. Despite the outbreak of the great war, N'UNIT continued to develop its infrastructure. By integrating rail and road transport systems with a network of its own and partner terminals throughout Ukraine, N'UNIT can quickly respond to the needs of Ukrainian exports, especially grain.
"We understand that global food security critically depends on the stability and reliability of logistics chains in Ukraine. With this in mind, N'UNIT recognizes its importance and continues to develop multimodal transportation in Ukraine and abroad to ensure the uninterrupted export of agricultural products from Ukraine, so that Ukrainian agricultural products continue to meet the food needs of hundreds of millions of people around the world," said Yegor Grebennikov, owner of N'UNIT.
"Ukraine is feeding the world through grain production and export, including to the world's most food-insecure countries. I saw this firsthand during my tour of a shipping facility that uses equipment from USAID to bring much-needed grain to global markets," Mr. Blinken commented on his visit to the terminal on his X (formerly Twitter).
As a reminder, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken last visited Ukraine on an unannounced visit in May of this year. The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate unwavering support for Ukraine as it defends its freedom from Russian aggression.
N'UNIT is a new Ukrainian network of rail and road terminals that provides customs clearance, transshipment, staffing, storage, packaging, and cargo handling services. The N'UNIT network was created by a group of professionals with extensive experience in the development of container rail transportation in Ukraine and abroad. Yegor Grebennikov, co-owner of Ukraine's largest seaport, TIS, serves as the network's leader. The N'UNIT network has its own road and rail rolling stock and was the first in Ukraine to provide a full range of services for the transportation of agricultural cargo in containers and in bulk.
