Oktoberfest 200th Anniversary

Thu 14th Jan, 2010

MUNICH, Germany. The first Oktoberfest was held 200 years ago - for its anniversary this year, the city is planning a nostalgic Oktoberfest on the southern part of the Theresienwiese and plans to charge an admission. So far no one has paid for the Oktoberfest or the tent entrance. However worldwide, whether it in San Francisco, the U.S.A., Ontario, Canada or in Blumenau, southern Brazil, the entry to Oktoberfest will not be free. For the 200th anniversary 2010 tourists are expected to pay four euros Oktoberfest fee - but only for a limited area in the southern part. The nostalgic Oktoberfest would be an exception for those who want to see something special like historical exhibits, shows, horse races and much more. "The actual Oktoberfest is free of charge," said spokesman Tony Roiderer to Abendzeitung.
