Lions try to keep the momentum going

Sun 4th Sep, 2011

Grünwalderstrasse, Munich - The season did not start very well for TSV 1860 Munich, as they lost their first game in Braunschweig. Since then the Bavarians only achieved wins, both in the German second league and in the German Cup.

Munich's head coach Reiner Maurer hopes of course that his team will continue with their winning streak against FC Erzgebirge Aue. 1860 will host the Saxon club Sunday at Allianz Arena, kick-off at 13:30.

Maurer expects a quite tough game.  "They are a very well-rehearsed team, which excel at defending. It will be a very difficult game, as last year it was."  The teams drew 0-0 last season in Munich

Nevertheless the Lions seem to be more confident after their last away victory, a bombastic 5-0 at Cottbus. "Of course that result contributed to improve our mood, but I think this will be a completely different match," Maurer admitted.  "Aue are a very well defensive-organized team, they will try to destroy our play. Despite that fact our aim are the three points, we do not want to draw at home again."

With a little bit of relief the Bavarian coach announced that the team did not suffer injuries during the week and that the veteran Collin Benjamin is available again. Maurer stated that the former Hamburger SV player needs a little bit of time to recover properly from his injury, he has to work on his physical condition.

As of the starting line-up Munich's head coach confirmed that there will not be particular changes, so everything indicates that probably the winning starting eleven of Cottbus will be confirmed.

Will Benny Lauth & Co. be able to gain another win? At least 20.000 fans are expected to attend the game. A victory would be a massive incentive for the fans to keep coming to the Arena.  But also for the team, to establish themselves in the elite positions of the table, so that the promotion dream could actually start to take shape.
