Fountain season starts

Munich. On Thursday 8th of March this year, the fountain season started. In the Old Botanical Garden a symbolical opening celebration was held at the Neptune Fountain. Johann Georg Sandmeier turned on the pumps and let the water flow from the underground storage tanks to the surface.

The construction department of Munich council provided their winter covering - about 4,400 square meters of wood was needed for all the fountains. Since 29th of March this year, these coverings were removed. There are in total 185 municipal fountains in Munich.
